Job Opportunity – Learning & Engagement Trainee

Location:         Fort William (during school term time)

Hours:             7 per week (1 day)

Salary:             £5,500

Contract:         Fixed term 12 months (October start)

 

Our Lochaber is an exciting new project covering all aspects of life in Lochaber from the very earliest times, through the ages to the present day and beyond, with a strong theme of community and belonging.

We will be working in partnership with local schools to deliver a diverse range of learning sessions over the next academic year.  We are looking for a trainee to support our Learning and Engagement Officer deliver this ambitious project for one day per week.  This position would suit someone with an interest in working in museums and provide valuable experience for future employment. 

 

Person spec:

  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and organised
  • Good communication and engagement skills
  • Self-motivated and computer literate
  • Experience using multi-media digital equipment such as cameras, vlogging equipment would be advantageous
  • Competent in social media applications
  • An interest in heritage and museums
  • An interest in engaging and working with young learners during active learning sessions
  • Gaelic language skills would be advantageous

 Job Description:

  • Support the Community Learning & Engagement Officer (CLE) in their role providing a range of activities and events for the “Our Lochaber” project.
  • Helping the CLE develop, physically set up, and deliver learning sessions to meet the needs of schools participating in the “Our Lochaber” project
  • Assist the CLE in the delivery of outreach sessions to schools for the “Our Lochaber” project
  • Assist with project planning and producing digital outputs
  • Promote the project’s activities on social media
  • General museum duties connected to the “Our Lochaber” project as required
