We are looking for two enthusiastic young people to join our volunteer reception team this summer. Our popular bursary scheme is now in its fourth year and encourages school leavers about to go to university to gain experience working in a visitor services environment in a busy museum. This year the scheme has been extended to allow university undergraduates to apply too. Details of the scheme are outlined below.

Volunteer Placement Details
Period: June to August 2023
We are looking for one or two students to help us out over a three-month period from early June 2023 to end of August 2023. We are looking for a regular commitment of 1 day or 2 half days per week.
Reliability, good timekeeping and enthusiasm are the key to a volunteer receptionist position during our busiest period. The museum welcomes lots of visitors over the three-month period and it can be very busy.
In return for your time you will receive: an induction, on the job training, support from experienced volunteers and the museum staff. Valuable experience will be gained by meeting and welcoming our visitors. The volunteer will gain retail skills from handling our shop sales, using the till and the card machine and assisting with stocktaking. Volunteering experience adds value to your CV or any job applications and references can be given after completion of the 3 month period.
Terms:
Regular attendance, a full day as per the rota.
Good timekeeping and communications
Reliability
Flexibility with working hours
A bursary will be paid at the end of the 3 month period of £600, if the candidate has met the terms of the placement.
