2021 Student Bursary Scheme Launched

We’re very pleased to announce the return of the West Highland Museum Bursary for 2021.

We are looking for one or two students to help us out over a three-month period from early June 2021 to end of August 2021.  We are looking for a regular commitment of 1 day or 2 half days per week.  Students must be at least 17 years old and have been offered a full time place at University, or on a Further Education course starting in September 2021.

Reliability, good timekeeping and enthusiasm are the key to a volunteer receptionist position during our busiest period.  The museum welcomes 1000s of visitors over the three month period and it can be very busy.

In return for your time you will receive: an induction, on the job training, support from experienced volunteers and the museum staff.  Valuable experience will be gained by meeting and welcoming 1000s of visitors from all over the world. The volunteer will gain retail skills from handling our shop sales, using the till and the card machine and assisting with stocktaking.  Volunteering experience adds value to your CV or any job applications and references can be given after completion of the 3 month period.

Terms:

Regular attendance, a full day as per the rota.

Good timekeeping and communications

Reliability

Flexibility with working hours

A bursary will be paid at the end of the 3 month period of £600, if the candidate has met the terms of the placement.
